A combined changelog and mini-blog page.
Fixed date for yesterday's entry.
Welp. Happy 3 years to this webpage. Every time I start my day, I tend to mostly forget what I planned to do from the night before. I'm currently writing this from my smartphone and yes it's a last-minute thing.
Wonder which small laptop would be worth it for not just working on my webpage but also coding or making tracker music (if anyone's interested) or some gaming/emulation. Right now where I live and in my current circumstances, GPD Win is a bit pricey for me, dunno where they sell Chuwi netbooks, and it's hard to find any Thinkpads or refurbished Panasonic or Vaio laptops in physical/offline stores. There's also my Samsung Galaxy tablet that I usually use for drawing; it's the S3 model from 2017, which is the last ever tablet they made in 4:3 aspect ratio, and I bought it secondhand. It also has a keyboard that I should be using often for this purpose.
I'd like to make more artwork and music to show off in this webpage, so please look forward to it and wish me luck!
Two years ago we actually had an HTML class in our course and since I already had prior knowledge of HTML, I remained humble all throughout while I felt shocked by the new tag standards that come with HTML5. As if I'd comply to that in my own webpage.
Still not satisfied with how the homepage looks as of now as I just put some buttons inside a DIV element.
Finally bothered to try out a redesign locally... or at least a partial one. Probably not going to involve one of the testindex HTML files with code I shamelessly borrowed from Sadgrl, as they're a bit overwhelming for me to work with right now. Also did a redesign of this log page and made many additions and some omissions at the links page. Note to self: write profile page.
Hoo boy. It's been another few months since I've last touched this site again. I only have SNS addiction to blame for this. Things are not so much different from last year.
It's the second half of my third year in college now. Packet Tracer is an ugly and unintuitive piece of shit software we're forced to learn now, but last semester I had a fair blast learning Blender. We're also having a class on Arduino, which is absolutely fun. Finally, I get to touch hardware after a few years! Despite being enrolled in an information technology course, I don't actually frequently practice programming a lot. And now we have generative AI and LLMs that have disrupted legitimate study of not just programming but also the arts. And I'm basically too weak to grind at all.
Apparently Seamonkey Browser is not just a web browser but also has its own E-mail client (though I mainly use Outlook/Hotmail and Proton), IRC client, RSS reader and even a basic HTML editor called Composer. The latter doesn't seem to let me edit CSS files though. I'd like to rethink my webmastering workflow to involve Cyberduck and an HTML editor of my choice, be it VS Code, Notepad++ or Seamonkey Composer. I guess I'd delegate Seamonkey Composer for simple blog posts. Seamonkey isn't even an okay choice as a daily driver browser as there's a lot of HTML5 compatibility issues it has yet to overcome.
I'm still undecided on how to redesign this whole website, but I'd like it to be as mobile friendly yet simplistic as I see fit. I might also consider using an embedded font to make sure the same Microsoft font I'm seeing on my laptop will also show up on mobile. A lot of people on Twitter and Bluesky are raving about owning personal webpages that aren't just Carrds, Linktrees and Strawpages. Perhaps turning the index/landing page into some sort of link directory like with those three services would help.
Well that's a lot of months down the drain. Been busy with college stuff when I'm not procrastinating. PHP is actually pretty cool, much less a tad overwhelming for me. SQL is also a bit easy to grasp if it weren't for the SQL management software we were made to use in my class. Being able to refresh my knowledge on HTML+CSS is pretty helpful however, while I struggle to think of a good enough redesign for this site that wouldn't suck on mobile. I just created another test page and getting it to work was just as frustrating as the last one.
I'm kinda angry at myself for slacking off from doing anything with this site at all... I could've made this my blog if I decided to spend time working on this website instead of doing other things with my laptop or spending too much time on SNS. Seems I have a knack for learning the hard way and it shows.
Twitter has been getting worse because of excess divide between people, but not everyone (even me) is willing to leave. If I can't let a day or week pass without drawing, I shouldn't let up to a month pass without updating this webpage. I'm sorry.
I don't believe it's too late though. Anyone who would tell me that is just going to bring me down.
And yes, I made this artwork on the front page. It's basically the best artwork of mine I have at the moment.
I am thinking of options for altering this webpage's design at the cost of not making it fare well with 800*600 screens.
Pretend there were updates here during the summer (between May and July), if I had actually bothered to do updates.
Turns out I'm just going to reuse my old layout as I'm already happy with it as it was lol
More stuff behind the scenes, including some tinkering with sadgrl's free-to-use layout builder in order to create how my homepage should look like. It's not publicly viewable yet unless you know the test page's URL for some reason.
Bit of changes and additions underway, including a links page. Still deciding on how my webpage should look.
It's been a few years since I've used Neocities to maintain a primary internet presence. This new webpage is meant to replace my old one at weedeater.neocities.org without the burden of deleting it completely, as it holds sentimental value for me. Social media has become so painfully sterile for someone like me who would rather display my creativity and individuality without artificial restriction and added constant stress.
I may not guarantee how much I would update this site often since I have a life outside the internet, despite being mostly introverted, but I will definitely ensure this webpage will eventually become a comprehensive but not exhaustive look at who I am, what I am, what I like, art and music I make, writings and ramblings, et cetera; like a window to my soul, a digital diary or journal of sorts.
